About Us

The annual Golf 4 B.O.S. tournament was created in honor of August King who was born with Bohring-Opitz Syndrome (B.O.S.). Brian King, August’s father, created the event as he felt compelled to increase awareness for this incredibly rare genetic condition. Brian is an avid golfer and decided to combine his two passions and make a difference in the lives of other families of children living with B.O.S. Thanks to the incredible generosity of August’s family and support of his community, Golf 4 B.O.S. will be celebrating their fifth anniversary this year, 2025.

About Bohring-Opitz Syndrome (B.O.S.)

This syndrome is diagnosed by genetic testing and is a mutation in the ASXL1 gene. There are fewer than 600 cases worldwide. Patients with B.O.S. can have feeding difficulties, recurring respiratory infections, sleep apnea, developmental delay, and failure to thrive—making it very stressful on caregivers and families who often rely on the generosity of foundations to provide additional support.

About The Bohring-Opitz Syndrome Foundation

Established in 2015 by Carrie Hunsucker and Taylor Gurganus, The Bohring-Opitz Syndrome Foundation, Inc.—a 501c3 non-profit organization—is dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by B.O.S. through the establishment of a medical advisory board, awareness initiatives, and parent/patient advocacy. To learn more, visit the Bohring-Opitz Syndrome Foundation's website. 100% of the profits from Golf 4 B.O.S. are donated to the foundation, directly benefiting families through scholarships and resources.
